Established in late 1800’s , the town was popular for its Lady Harding Sanitorium ( now called Govt. TB Hospital). The pine forests around the town and the fresh clean air was suitable for the treatment . There are walking trails around the town and along the railway track. The walk in the dense forests freshen you up. On a clear day one can see the snow laden Dhauladhar mountain range from Dharampur-Sanawar road.

Dharampur is located on Kalka – Shimla NH 5 . Its 54 kms. From Chandigarh, 25 kms from Kalka Railway Station and 53 kms from Chandigarh Airport and 256 kms from New Delhi. Chandigarh Airport is well connected with flights from all over India. Chandigarh and kalka are well connected from Delhi by Shatabdi, Jan Shatabdi, Kalka mail and Vande Bharat trains.

Situated at an Altitude of 4900 ft Dharampur boasts of moderate temperature throughout the year. Max temp in summers is 34 deg.C on a few days, Normal temperature in summers is 14 deg. – 30 deg.C . In winters the normal temperature is between 0 deg. – 12 deg. C.
